Transcript of message from TV Broadcast 478 -- taken from Closed Captioning Text

-- Brother Thomas: "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end."

I think that's sufficient. What I'm trying to do here is to show you that most of the people who hear the Word in any measure--it would especially apply to those that had the Word and access to it repeatedly or for a period of time.... But this is a type, of course, of what he's trying to say to us here in the Bible at this time. That those that come out of the wilderness and come out of Egypt, how they hardened their heart and actually went back. They never entered in to that rest. They never entered into that land that He had promised them, because of that. Right now is your time. And that's why he says, "To day, if you will hear his voice." He didn't say tomorrow. He didn't say last week or next week. He said today!

( congregational amens ).

These people were hearing the Word of God and He wanted them to realize the urgency of not just passing it by but letting it go. See? And here's what He says, because "They do always err in their heart." They always and man gets in a habit of these things. He gets in a habit of putting it off and say, well I'm 20 years old, I have plenty of time or I'm 30 years old, or I'm 15 years old, or I'm 10 years old. And he's got an answer. He uses some kind of logic of his own kind, you know. He uses something to say no now. And you have no promise of tomorrow.

And besides, what happens if your heart does get hardened? You can't be the same once you've heard God's word. You don't remain the same. You hear God's Word tonight, the likelihood that you will hear it tomorrow is less and less and less. Some of you have heard it, no doubt, all your life to some degree, in some measure, somewhere. And you have thus far said no. You say, well I'm still young. You are? Only God knows. Only God understands how young you are and how long you're gonna live.

( congregational amens ).

You don't. It's like Philip. He didn't know he was going. He had no idea that he was going, but he did. God said, come on and he came. And when God says to you, come on, regardless of the means that's used, you will come on. And so that's why he says, "To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts." At the very least your heart is going to begin to get hard. There's a process that makes it easier the next time to say no. There's a process that starts working in you and in your heart, in your will to cause you to think, well I've got another time. I've got another chance. How do you know you have? How do you know that you've got another chance? How do you know? Don't be presumptuous. No wonder Paul said today. He didn't say tomorrow, or next week, but today if you will hear his voice.

And it's God's voice that you have to hear. And it's God's voice that comes through man. God doesn't speak through jackasses any more. God doesn't speak through eloquent men necessarily. He can speak sometime maybe through men that are not eloquent. They may murder the King's English. They may not be very literate. They may be just plain, simple people. But somehow or other they got in contact with God and God has blessed them and God has anointed them. God has put His Spirit upon them.

( congregational praise ).

And that Spirit upon them is not just there for pleasure. It's there to speak to you. It's there to speak to you.

( congregational praise ).

John says, "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them."

-- Brother Jimmy Robbins: Revelation 20, verse 11.

-- Brother Thomas: Yes, verse 12 now. "And I saw the dead,"--this is you and me. I'm gonna be there. I'd like to meet you there. Meet you there in the right place.

( congregational amens ).

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

That's the final judgment. That's what happens to all those who have heard the Word and have for any reason said no. That's right. Harden not your heart. And I'll say this, most people that hear the Word anywhere harden their heart. Most of them do. It's a serious thing. You don't have to, you don't have to let this meeting go by and be in that lot.

( congregational amens ).

Because the God that wrote this Word, that gave us this word, that inspired this preacher, that God stands here tonight with outstretched arms ready to save you.

( congregational praise ).

Let's stand, please and be praying. I don't see how anybody could go out of here tonight lost. But I don't save. All I can do is tell you about the one that does save. Now while we sing, you got your songs? While we sing, Alan, whoever is going to lead the singing. While we sing you have an invitation. You say, what kind of an invitation? An invitation to say yes to this great God.

( congregational amens ).

To say yes, that's it. You don't have to err in your heart, but it begins here. Say yes to Him. I wish I could come for you but I can't. All I can do is tell you. Now while we sing tonight, are you one that wants to make your peace with God? Are you one--man, woman, boy or girl? Are you one that wants to make his or her peace with God tonight? Then don't wait on others. You come. Step out and come forward here.

( congregational praise ).

Alas, and did my Saviour bleed And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head for such a worm as I?
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away.
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for crimes that I have done He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity, grace unknown, and love beyond degree!
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away.
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

-- Brother Thomas: You wouldn't think that people have heard the Word of God here by their lack of reaction, lack of response. You have heard God speak.

( congregational amens ).

And I'm not pointing to myself. You've heard God speak. Do you want to listen to him? Do you want to obey him? Do you want to receive His Son? That's the question. Now is your chance. If you're ashamed of him, you don't want him, because you have to take him before the world. Hallelujah! That's right.

( congregational praise ).

Hallelujah! While we sing, while these sing, you join them. Hallelujah!

( congregational praise ).

Go ahead and sing. All right if you want Christ, come. I'm not gonna linger. Over here and over here and over here. If you want Him, you can just step out. Don't wait on others. You've got to do it yourself. You gonna walk that last road together by yourself. You won't have no company. You've got to do it. All right as we stand and sing.

All my tomorrows, all my past,
Jesus is Lord of all.
I've quit my struggles, contentment at last,
Jesus is Lord of all.

King of kings, Lord of Lords,
Jesus is Lord of all.
All my possessions and all my life,
Jesus is Lord of all.

All my conflicts, all my thoughts,
Jesus is Lord of all.
His love wins the battles I could not have fought,
Jesus is Lord of all.

King of kings, Lord of Lords,
Jesus is Lord of all.
All my possessions and all my life,
Jesus is Lord of all.

All my longings, all my dreams,
Jesus is Lord of all.
All my failures his power redeems,
Jesus is Lord of all.

King of kings, Lord of Lords,
Jesus is Lord of all.
All my possessions and all my life,
Jesus is Lord of all.

( congregational praise ).

-- Brother Thomas: Folks are still coming. The Holy Spirit is still working. I want us to sing one more verse there. If nobody comes I'm going to close the invitation. This will be your last invitation by this preacher to come to Christ. Do you want to get in? Then come. Go ahead and sing.

All my tomorrows, all my past,
Jesus is Lord of all.
I've quit my struggles, contentment at last,
Jesus is Lord of all.

King of kings, Lord of Lords,
Jesus is Lord of all.
All my possessions and all my life,
Jesus is Lord of all.
