Transcript of message from TV Broadcast 474 -- taken from Closed Captioning Text -- Tammie Burns: Praise the Lord. It's truly a blessing to be in the house of the Lord because the Lord is here and His people is here. It's not gonna be long. I just want you to know that the Lord saved me one day. He reborned my soul. I was an addict, drugs and did just about what they're doing now in the world today. I was a harlot and one day I asked Jesus to save me. And He told me my sins were forgiven. And He told me they were washed in His blood. He says He don't remember those sins no more. So I started listening to Brother Parker. I moved to Arkansas. It was just a long story. My life was still rugged but I know Jesus was there for me. And the Lord just said keep continuing to listen to Midnight Cry. I never regretted it. I've been blessed from listening to the Midnight Cry because of the things that I was in God delivered me from. Because I know it was the anointing. And I know that I was searching. I wanted help. I wanted to get delivered from some old bad habits. Things that--well the church that I was in, I knew I wasn't getting fed. It's been about 2 years--just about 2 years that I started listening to Midnight Cry. I started supporting the broadcast, trying to be faithful as I can. I'm a mother with 7 children but God never failed us. Pray for my children. They in church but I pray that they will get to know the Lord personally-personally, so when He comes they can go too. We all can go. You all pray for me and I keep you all in my prayer. I traveled from Jackson, Mississippi and when I seen the June convention on the article of the paper I had got, I said Lord I want to go. I said, I don't have no money. Will you just open the door up and if I can take all the children or I can just go by myself. He did it. He did it. Everything he did, I give Him all the glory. Give Him all the glory. -- Brother Thomas: Everybody at some time or other--I'm talking about human beings just in the norm, think about God and they think about eternity. Every one of us here now know that we're going to come to the end of our life. Our earthly tenure is going to be over one of these days and we are going to have to go somewhere. If there is such a thing as a God and such things as a heaven and a hell, we certainly need to know how to get there and how to avoid one. There's no need of us trying to fool ourselves. Either there's a right way and a wrong way or else there is no God. But there is a God! I was thinking tonight as we're singing one of those songs---you know one of those choruses, the young people were---and how high He's exalted above the earth. And I got to thinking, well my God what is the earth? The earth is just a small speck out here floating around in space. It ain't as big as a speck of dust compared to the rest of the universe. And, so I'm thankful to God that there is a place and we can find it. And the way is through God's Son, Jesus Christ. God provided a way for us through His Son. We'd never get there. We could never be saved. We could never find the way. We're completely destitute. It's the goodness of God and God only that can lead us. Amen! And He's told us, Jesus has, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." No man can get there. He's the way. Praise God for that! He told those in His day, "If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." What did he mean by that? He meant that if man did not believe that He was the provision that God had made for us to be saved--our Saviour, our Lord, then there was no other way. See? If we believe not, but I believe, don't you? For instance Jesus Christ...Sister Norman, there you are. God bless you. Sister Norman has been sick quite a bit in the last few years but she's here tonight. It's good to have you and of course all of you. I'm not trying to single out any special one. But somewhere along life's road you're going to want God. You're gonna need something. If you don't believe there's a God well you need to go back somewhere and start searching. We've got a God and that God was in Christ. And Christ came to this world to save you and to save me. That was His mission. That was His purpose. And He is saving those that He came to save. He ain't going to miss a one. Some people may think He is, but He's not. He won't miss a one, every single one. All that the Father gives Him will come to Him. And Him that comes to Jesus, He will in no wise cast out. How can you cast out those whom He's chosen before the world was founded? Think about it now. Well, somebody says well what if...no ifs, ands, or buts about it. We need to realize that when God does something it's done. And God has provided a place for you and for me. He's provided a salvation full and free. And He says now, ask and you'll receive. By the fact that He says seek and then knock, He means don't stop asking. Just continue to ask. Ask. You say, well I've been doing this for so long or I've did this or I've done that. Keep on. What else are you gonna do? Where are you gonna go? He said to you--that's got to be somebody that occupies this position, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Now that has to be somebody that comes in contact with this God and with this gospel. Where the Lord speaks and He says, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." There is no rest outside of Jesus Christ--no rest. And this is why men are doing so many things to find some kind of relief you know. They're doing...that's why they manufactured so many entertainments and so many things. They're looking for something they don't know how to find. And it's right before them. It's right out in reach of faith. The scripture says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." See it says diligently seek Him. That's not to just some fellow that's just casual and thinks well He'll try this thing for a while. You don't try it for a while. It's like getting married. I'm talking about what marriage used to be. It's from now on. And it's forever. You'd better make up your mind. "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." I'll never forget the time that I said yes to Jesus Christ. I went home and I don't know, there wasn't an awful lot that seemed to happen, but I know the next morning I will never forget. The next morning I got to talking about the Lord, the goodness of the Lord and I got to weeping. My wife had cooked, well our favorite, usually grits and eggs, and drops--tears were dropping down in my plate. Because God had done something for me. God had done something for me here. Man can't do that, only God can. He had given me a new heart. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and behold all things are become new." And that's what God will do for you. You can never get to heaven like you are. You'd be miserable if you did. If they were to open the gates of Glory and let you go in there like you are and say, now you can stay here as long as you like it and as long as you're satisfied. You'd be the most miserable, wretched person in heaven. You wouldn't like it. You've got to be prepared. You wouldn't want to go if you knew. It's only those who've been made a new creature in Christ Jesus. You know there in Revelation when he says He makes all things new. God does make everything new at the end. This old world, all that's in it, and mankind is gonna be made new. And everything that's lacking in us will be made. Thank God for that. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." And it's not because they're righteous because they do something--because of what they do or don't do. They're righteous because God declares them righteous. They're righteous because God has saved them and they're God's child. And I don't believe that God ever loses one of His children. I believe that everyone that comes to Him, He carries them all the way. I'm going to conclude with these remarks now. As most of you know I don't feel too well. But I'm thinking about what that scripture says there in Matthew 11:28. "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me." Amen! Anyway if you want help, if you desire help--I mean God's help, not just any kind of help. All of these things you see on the highway--they've got palms up there, stars and things inviting you to come in. You have to pay a fee, of course. That's all just a bunch of baloney. The devil has provided that because he wants to make a buck or two off of you. But the Lord has the real thing. And its...He don't have a price tag on it either. That's the greatest gift in the universe and there's no price tag. Hallelujah! So the Lord is saying tonight to you here in this meeting, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me." That's what He wants you to do, you know, when you come to Him and take His yoke, then you begin to learn of Him. You learn His ways. You learn something about His people. Not all of it is good but you learn anyway. ( laughter ). Oh me. I was thinking about Tim and Sherell when they were up here singing awhile ago. I said, I remember Tim whenever we first met him way back yonder. He, of course he had hair back then. ( laughter ). I'll tell you, Sherell and this group of people was such a shock to him that he left and didn't come back for 2 months--about 2 months. I may be mistaken on that but he finally did come back and he got hooked. And he's been here ever since. And Sherell, I think, got a pretty good husband. Praise God! Lord bless you now. I'm just not going to continue this. I know this is a pretty poor effort but I'm going to conclude what I'm saying here. And I'll conclude with that, "Come unto me." That's still the Word of the living God. "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." That's it. God bless you. |
