--Brother Thomas: Did you know many people today don't know what to believe? Did you know these people that's wondering everywhere--one believing this, one believing that--they don't know what to believe. Praise God if they've got the Word, they've got God, and that's all. They have to have the Word. You need the Word of God more than you need anything else. Hallelujah!

"Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works." Think about it now. God sees your faith and He puts to your account the righteousness from that. It's imputed to you. It's placed to your account. Don't worry, God sees it and He sees what you're believing in and what you're trusting in. And you can trust in and tell Him, Lord I believe in this. I'm trusting in this.

That's what David's talking about that describes, "the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."

Now let's ponder that for a minute. God will not charge us with sin. He'll not charge you with sin. That don't mean you won't have some. That don't mean you won't do something wrong. I don't want everybody to stand up in here and say that they don't sin.

( laughter ).

I'd rather you be honest. I don't mean to take advantage of God's goodness. And I don't believe you will. But realize this one thing, you're saved because Jesus died for you.

( congregational praise ).

You're saved because He paid your sin debt. You're saved because He died on that cross, and when He said it was finished, it was finished.

( congregational praise ).

Your sin in total as paid for. It was paid for and today the salvation you have comes to you as a result of what He did. You can thank God for it. You don't have to beg God to save you.

( congregational praise ).

If you are a sinner, and lost, and you may be here. As many as we have here, it could very well be some that's lost. You don't have to beg God to save you. You ought to thank Him for it and stand on that Word.

( congregational praise ).

Hallelujah! All hell can assail but if you're standing on that Word, you can quote this scripture to yourself, to the devil, and to the Lord, and to somebody if they need it. The Word of God does something for us. It's quick, it's sharper than any two-edged sword, even to you and to those you quote it. It's yours.

Remember one time I was sitting in a barber shop...I've done a little few outlandish things I guess, and these barbers they were...I was just sitting over there, you know. I wasn't getting no haircut. And this was a time whenever they'd shave you. And the fellow I was with, he was leaned back in the chair and the guy was shaving him and they got to telling jokes. And they'd laugh, you know, about those jokes. I knew it was filthy jokes.

And I just sit there and I had a little pocket Testament. I took it out of my shirt. I just quoted the scripture--I just remembered the scripture. And I said, There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." And that fellow got quiet. They all got quiet and they stooped down and they said, who is that fellow? They said that's the Baptist preacher.

( laughter ).

But anyway, I felt like doing something. And I felt good when I did what I did. I give the devil a black eye.

( congregational praise ).

If they don't learn anything they'll learn one thing, that he sure don't want to do things in front of everybody. Praise God. But the Word of God's what did it--that Word. Hallelujah! Just remember to learn to live by the Word. "Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD." That's our life. That's what we're here for.

( congregational praise ).

That's what we're here for. That's why we want to hear from Phil, from me, and others. It's because we need this Word. It's got all the vitamins, the protein and everything else we need right here in the Word. It's not what we feel. It's not what we think. It's what God's Word says. Just remember that. It's not what your fortuneteller says. I don't need to go to a palm reader. I need to go to the Word. Hallelujah! Just commune with God. Talk to Him and then get the Word. May God bless you.

( congregational praise ).

Hallelujah! Praise God! Glory to God! Hallelujah! Glory to God! Hallelujah! Let me say something else. This is good. Did you know that God dwells in the midst of the praises of Israel? Praise will do you more good than anything else. Do you feel bad? Are you despondent? Just praise God. And when we come here we don't come here just to be fed, we don't come here just to see somebody. We come here to worship God.

( congregational praise ).

I mean worship Him. Hallelujah! And whenever you sing up there, sing to the Lord. Get your mind off everything else. We're here to worship Him.

( congregational praise ).

We were driving over tonight, I said Lord I thank you that you're here with us. I think you'll be in our midst tonight. You know why I know He'll be in our midst? He says, " For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst." By faith He's here.

( congregational praise ).

Praise God! He's here. Praise God! Hallelujah! Glory to God! Glory to God! Hallelujah! Glory to God! Praise God! Praise God! Hallelujah! Praise God! All right let's hear from somebody else. That will put a little electricity in it.

-- Patrick Joray: That was powerful! That was the Lord! Psalms 119 in verse 25 it says, "My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word." You know, that's just an old English way of saying I'm lower than a snake's belly. And I saw that fulfilled--you know I witnessed it tonight. Brother Thomas was talking about his emotions--you know his depression. And how precious that is to the Lord for us to look up and say, you know what I really need God is a word from you. That's all I need. I don't need a new car or a new toy. I just need just one word to lift me up from this place. Amen.

-- Brother Thomas: The Word is very important. The psalmist says, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." And the 49th verse same chapter, "Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction," whatever that affliction might be. The Word is a comfort. "For thy word hath quickened me." That word quickened means made alive. Now did you not experience such quickening a while ago?

( congregational praise ).

The Word of God did that. I know it. I know it did. And of course the Lord led. That word of exhortation with using the word, it was in order. God wanted you to have it and you can have it yourself. You just have to learn to do it yourself. Now, the Psalms are great. "Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word."

Now note that. "It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver." "I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me." "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." "The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." That's just different verses there, and it just shows you the effect of the Word. And it is--that's God's life line to you. That's God's way of speaking to you. God will speak to you through the Word. Hallelujah!

( congregational praise ).

Many times I would need a Word, go out and pray, and then the Word would come to me. I remember one time I come to the place I was willing to quit preaching if the Lord wanted me to. I was willing to do anything. And I never will forget, I was out in the woods praying, and the Lord said forget not to communicate. I said, "Thank you, Lord."

Just be sensitive. God can speak to you. He wants to speak to you. You ever read where certain individuals--prophets--it says the Word of the Lord came to them? They acted upon that. That was a Word to give to somebody else, maybe to help him--encourage him. But also it was to be used by him in something he needed to do. The Word of the Lord...and the Word of the Lord can come unto Jimmy. The Word of the Lord can come unto first one and then another--Chip there, Phil, Brother Enlow. The Word of the Lord can come to you. God wants to speak to you through this Word. Hallelujah.

( congregational praise ).

Praise God!

-- Brother Phil Enlow: I don't know if this is tag-team wrestling or not. There's the heavy weight.

( laughter ).

No, just a brief comment on one of the scriptures Brother Thomas mentioned. He read there where David said, " Remember the Word unto thy servant upon which thou hast caused me to hope." He's really picturing a little different situation there. This is not just so much where you're in a desolate place and the Lord gives you a Word. This is looking at something that happened yesterday. This is a situation where the Lord gave you a Word and now it's later on and you don't feel like you felt when the Lord gave it to you. Now what are you gonna do?

So this where David said, "Remember the Word unto thy servant upon which thou hadst caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction." Now this is along the same lines as the message that we've heard so many times about how the Word of the Lord tried Joseph, didn't it? And that's another thing we need to realize in the Lord's dealings with us. Many times He'll say something to us and then allow us to go on and then now what are we gonna see?

It isn't just something for the moment, this is something we're gonna need to carry with us and be able to stand upon when the feelings are gone. When the devil is dumping reasonings into our heads, is that Word still gonna be something that we're gonna hang on to? That's a very, very important principle. But I tell you that God will continue to stand by His Word. It wasn't just when it was made real to us: that Word's gonna stay with us all the way. And we need to hang on to it that way.

( congregational praise ).

-- Brother Ron Peters: Praise God. You know, the Word says that, "A word spoken in due season is like apples of gold and pictures of silver." And I believe we've had that tonight. And I just don't know that you can add a whole lot to what God says when He opens His mouth. And I certainly don't want to get up here and spoil what God's said. I believe it's been--I know it's been for me--and I know it's been for everyone of God's children. God just doesn't send His Word out just to be doing it. But He's doing it to help God's people. I believe this has been good tonight. It's been wonderful.

( congregational praise ).

I keep thinking of a chorus that we learned up there that goes along with this service tonight and I was wondering maybe Phil if we could sing it. "If you abide in Me, My words abide in you. You shall ask what you will." You can follow me. It's easy.

( laughing ).

( laughter ).

It's a good chorus. The words go, "If you abide in me and my Words abide in you, ye shall ask what you will. It shall be done unto you. For the enemy must flee. There is joy and victory if you abide in me." Let's try to sing it. I need an F key though.

-- Brother Phil Enlow: You want me to play the piano?

-- Brother Ron Peters: Yeah if you would. Praise God. I'm not that good a singer.

( laughing ).

( laughter ).

Praise God!

IF YOU ABIDE IN ME AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU,
YE SHALL ASK WHAT YOU WILL. IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU.
FOR THE ENEMY MUST FLEE.
THERE IS JOY AND VICTORY WHEN YOU ABIDE IN ME.

IF YOU ABIDE IN ME AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU,
YE SHALL ASK WHAT YOU WILL. IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU.
