The following is a response to a lady who wanted to know what the difference between demon oppression and possession were. Thanks for writing. I don't know what you may have already read on the website but let me point you to some particular pages: http://www.midcry.org/dd6.htm, http://www.midcry.org/adversar.htm. A couple of pages are the answers to questions and while they may not address your precise situation the principles still apply: http://www.midcry.org/demons.htm, http://www.midcry.org/possessed.htm. We live as prisoners in a world where the devil is the warden -- apart from Jesus and what He has done for us. The cross is our only hope. Our Deliverer died there with all of our sins upon Him -- and then rose, conquering death itself. All the powers of hell could not stop Him. Regardless of the details of our situation He is the answer. Fix your mind and heart upon His promises in the Word. Call upon the name of Jesus from your heart. Command any demons involved to loose their hold and leave. Thank God for the truthfulness of His promises and for delivering you. Don't wait for a feeling -- thank Him -- and stand upon His promise. It has nothing to do with whether you deserve it or not. Salvation is based upon what Jesus did -- period! Be aware that demons will try to regain their influence. They have, over time, cultivated certain desires and thought habits in you. Seek the Lord daily to renew your mind through His Word and learn to recognize and "cast down" those thoughts, resisting the spirit who projects them into your mind. Getting demons to leave is one thing. Closing and locking the door behind them is more of a process. But God is faithful and will help you. Truth displaces the devil's lies. Christ displaces demons. Give both heart and mind to Christ as a way of life and demons will have no choice but to leave. They are no match for our Deliverer! In Christ, Return to Questions Page |
